Fishing with Papa, Grandma Teresa & Daddy

As soon as they arrived in the Jemez Mountains Elijah fell in. Grandma said that he wanted to be in the water the whole time. He had fun splashing around and chasing the fish away.
Marissa and Isaiah are enjoying themselves. I am not sure but it looks like she wants to keep fish in that ziplock bag.
Papa is getting the fishing poles ready for the day. Marissa got a new fancy retractable fishing pole for her birthday from Grandma Teresa and Papa.
Elijah got cold as the day went on and had to put on his big brother's long sleeve shirt.
Yeah, I like the mountains. I am having fun! What kind of mischief can I get in?
Daddy and the boys! I guess they didn't read the No Tresspassing Sign that is hanging up.

Daddy, Grandma Teresa, Papa, Marissa, Isaiah, and Elijah all went to the Jemez Mountains for a day of fishing and fun. Mommy stayed home with Grandma Sue and had a girls day out (this was one of mommy's best times). Marissa received a fishing pole for her birthday and could not wait to go and use it.

Marissa's Kindergarten Graduation

Marissa is shown here with her kinder graduation certificate.
Here is our reader! She was one of three kinder students out of three classes to get the reading above grade level award in English.

Marissa also received the Mathematical Thinker Award for having math skills above grade level. I think there were four or five students that got this one.
Here is Marissa with (L) Mr. Trujillo-Principal and (R) Mr. Rappanut- Assistant Principal

Here is Marissa with her teacher, Mrs. Gonzales. She really had a great time with her this year. I love that Marissa had a great connection with her Kinder teacher. I could not believe that we got Marissa to wear a dress. Like mother, like daughter. She does look beautiful and was excited because another girl, her friend Mia, had the same dress. (When she gets older, this will not be so cool)
Marissa worked very hard this year. She is reading at the middle of 1st grade level in English and did finish at grade level in Spanish reading. We were worried about Spanish Reading because she does not have a very large vocabulary in spanish since we don't speak spanish at home, but she learned her sight words and was able to decode the words necessary for reading at the end of kinder level by the end of the year! GO ROO!!!!
Marissa also ended the year at second grade level in Mathematics. She is like her daddy- a mathematical whizz. We didn't even know that she could add and subtract larger numbers with out a picture representation until she told us in the car one day what 12+13 was. I couldn't believe it. She said she learned how to do it on her Leapster. Thank god for the learning games on leapster.
Marissa is going to continue in the Dual Language program next year in 1st grade. She is going to have an incredible 1st grade English teacher. YEAH!!!!!! Marissa is a very goal oriented person who makes goals for herself often (Does this sound like daddy, or what?). She also had a great year with Art and Music. She LOVED both of those classes.
We are proud of Marissa!
